Curling Beausejour is hosting four provincial events this season, the Hub City Shootout (December 9-12), the Men’s Wildcard (Jan. 21 – 23’10), the Ladies Final 8’s (Jan. 26-30’10). Volunteers will be required, so why not consider spending some time with us by helping out at these events.

MEMBERSHIP DUES AND CURLING FEES!

Membership dues are now being collected; membership application forms are located at the front desk to the left as you enter the curling lounge.

A reminder of a membership option we provide at the Curling Beauséjour, curlers can curl during the day for $8/game or during the evening for $10/game, but they must purchase a social membership of $30.00 for the year. If you do the math, anyone who curls twice or more during the week benefits by purchasing a complete membership, this way they can curl anytime they wish.

If anyone has not paid their dues at this point, please see Camille or Ellery at the office.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Hello everyone…

Hope you are back in the curling mode by now. Did you register if you are curling? We need your current addresses so you can be informed.

Thanks to Jean Larrivee & Guy St. Pierre for hosting 2 successful invitationals in October and November. Thanks also to Dale Ronald and Denise Nowlan for chairing the Maritime Juniors and the Lady Monctonian during October.

If you wish to play in the Beau Autumn Mixed November 27-28 and don’t have a team please give your name to the organizers.

We have a busy December and hope that you will be able to help us with the Christmas banquets or the curling events. Your time is valuable and most appreciated.

For the curling spectator there is a 32 team Hub City Shoot Out, Dec 9-12, hosted by the Beau/Beaver. There are over 15 draws and you can purchase a ticket for a draw, day or event pass, expect some great curling.

Curling Beausejour is hosting four provincial events this season, the Lady Monctonian (Oct. 22-24), the Hub City Shootout (December 9-12), the Men’s Wildcard (Jan. 21 – 23’10), the Ladies Final 8’s (Jan. 26-30’10). Many volunteers will be required for these events.

Summary of events during August/Sept’10:

CCE Summer Camp chaired by Leo Majeau with 34 individuals registered.

Surf & Curl chaired by Leo Majeau with 22 teams enjoying a great bonspiel and food.

Competitive Maritime Junior League – Chaired by Carmen Marshall with teams from all parts of the maritimes.

All of these events bring revenue to the club and great exposure as well. Well done!

Hope you had a great summer!

Curl camp was awesome**

Surf and curl got some of us in the curling groove. Our shoes were not as dusty as we thought.

There is a ‘Learn to Curl’ starting October 4^th, we are taking names.

There are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board, come and put your name down or contact the league coordinator. Practice sessions will last a couple of weeks before the league play start.

After you sign up, fill out your membership form, volunteer form, then you can get your locker and meet us between the sheets.

Our thanks go to the group that installed all the lockers.

NBCA News

I joined several other representatives of NB sports organizations for a meeting with two different candidates of the upcoming Provincial election.

NB curling clubs have been trying to have property taxes eliminated or, at least, reduced. Although these candidates certainly didn’t make any promises, they appeared to be familiar with this request and “suggested”, in a roundabout way, that this could be up for discussion.

All curlers are urged to make known to their political candidates what it is the government could do to assist your club. (such as eliminate or reduce property taxes)
